The Cuppoints

Every match is worth 1 point unless the admin sets it higher (a final day can be worth double). A win takes the whole point; a halved match gives each team half.

Nassau matches are three bets in one: the front 9, the back 9 and the full 18, each worth the match's points.

Points are never prorated. Proj. on live screens is the Cup if every live match ended as it stands right now.

Strokeshandicaps

Everyone plays off the trip handicap index the group agreed. Your course handicap comes from that index, the tees' slope and rating, and par. A player on tees with a higher par gets the difference as extra strokes.

Each format then takes a share of it (the allowance, below). In match play the lowest player in the match plays off zero and everyone else gets the difference. In stroke play everyone keeps their own share.

Strokes fall on the hardest holes first (stroke index 1, 2, 3…). More than 18 wraps round, so some holes get two. They show as dots above each score.

Scores are always entered gross, the strokes you actually took. The app works out the net.

Individual1v1

One against one, own ball. Lower net score wins the hole (match play) or lower net total wins the match (stroke play).

Allowance: 100% in match play, 95% in stroke play.

Best ball2v2 · own ball

Everyone plays their own ball. Each side's better net score on the hole is its score.

Allowance: 90% in match play, 85% in stroke play.

Hi-Lo2v2 · two points a hole

Everyone plays their own ball, and every hole is worth two points.

  • The low point: each side's better net score is compared. Lower wins the point.
  • The high point: each side's worse net score is compared. Lower wins that one too, so both partners matter on every hole.

A tie wins nobody the point, and nothing carries over. The side with more points at the end wins the match.

Stroke-play Hi-Lo keeps two 18-hole totals for each side: all its low balls added up, and all its high balls added up. Lower low total wins one point, lower high total wins the other. One each is a halved match.

A player left on their own counts their score as both the low and the high ball.

Allowance: 100% in match play, 95% in stroke play.

Shamblebest drive, own ball

Everyone tees off and the side picks the best drive. From there each player finishes the hole with their own ball, and the side's better net score counts.

Allowance: 60%, from the lowest handicap in the match. Undecided This is still an open group decision.

Scramble2, 3 or 4 · team ball

Everyone tees off, the side picks the best shot, and everyone plays from there, all the way into the hole. One score per side.

Allowance, from each side's course handicaps, lowest first:

  • 2 players: 35% of the lower + 15% of the higher
  • 3 players: 30% + 20% + 10%
  • 4 players: 25% + 20% + 15% + 10%

A side missing a player before the round uses the smaller side's split.

Alt shot2v2 · team ball

Partners take turns hitting one ball until it's holed. One score per side.

Allowance: half the partners' combined course handicaps. In match play, the side with more strokes gets the difference.

Match playholes

Lower net score wins the hole; a tie halves it. The status reads like "Alex & Dan 2 UP thru 7".

A match ends as soon as one side is further ahead than there are holes left: "won 3&2" means 3 up with 2 to play. Keep entering scores anyway; they still count for the leaderboard and the tiebreaker.

Level after the last hole is a halved match.

Stroke playtotals

Lower net total over the match's holes wins. There's no early finish; every hole is played.

Picking upand the max score

Tap Picked up; never type a number for it. A picked-up ball always loses to a ball that finished the hole.

In match play, picking up gives up the hole for that ball, but your partner can still play it for the side.

Where a total needs a number, a pick-up counts as the max score: the higher of net double bogey and double par. Undecided

Tiebreakerteam net total

If the Cup ends level, the team with the lower team net total wins: every net score the team posts across the trip, added up.

Own-ball rounds add four scores per team; scramble and alt shot rounds add two, so individual rounds weigh double. These totals use stroke-play strokes, so pairings don't change them.

A round counts only once every match in it has finished all 18 holes; otherwise it's left out for both teams.

When things go wrongrain, leaving early

Weather: the admin can pause a match and resume it later, end it early (the side ahead wins the full points; all square is halved), or void it (no points).

Leaving mid-round: the admin marks the player as gone after a hole, and the partner plays on alone. No substitutes, no forfeits.

Every match can be net or gross, and match play or stroke play. The admin sets these per round.
